Words to avoid when you want people to respond to your marketing emails.

I found an interesting infographic on mashable that shows which words make people not reply to your marketing emails.

Loading your message with words such as “confirm,” “join,” “press,” or “invite” is not a good idea if you want a response
What do you think about this. Do you use these words in your marketing emails, and if you do, what is the general response. Would anyone be willing to test this theory?

Have a look at the infographic here at mashable and tell me what you think.

I always like to prepare messages to my list like a personal story or experience. It grabs the attention and leaves the message transparent in evey way. An obvious "call to action" nowadays will most likely make your subscribers unsubscribe. So yes, I agree copletely. It scares them off...

Yes. And in more ways than one IMO. I get emails sent to my junk folder that are completely obvious sells, I'm not even curious about them at all. lol Maybe its because I am female, but its just nice to know that someone is going to take the time to write to me in a more informal way, and still get their message and product across. Appealing to my curiosity works as well. I'm not the only curious one in the world. Sometimes people seem to forget that there is a person on the other end of that email and they just bombard you with one blatant promotion after another. I have actually learned to look for the names of these people and ignore them. If one slips by the scanners, I am all too happy to fix the problem by pressing the delete button myself.

Personal touch works, conversation works. (my 2 cents)

It shows exactly what most internet marketers think they have to do to make it online. But in fact, they'll get disappointed every time, because no one is buying from them. This is the difference between the successful online entrepreneurs and "opportunity seekers".

How can you build a relationship with your list and/or prospects if you're only sending them offers...
On top of that, most are using the prewritten email swipes that are full of hype and wonder why they keep failing...

hmmm Hype, there's that word again. hype should only be used when talking about search trends, IMHO. It's darn hard to make it online, it takes dedication, and a lot of hard work. Knowing what to say, how to say it and even when, can mean the difference between a conversion and starting from scratch to try figure out why your campaign's not working.

Hype is everywhere, especially in emails from those hard-sellers and their salespages. What's referred to as hype in this business is those make believe texts, promising you wealth and financial freedom, No.1 position in google in 3 days and that kind of nonsense. Showing screenshots of results that are unrealistic for someone who's just started and casestudies based on years of being in this business already, with the necessary experience and exposure they've already got.

Everything too good to be true is hype to me...

lol more or less the same here. They use that to get their sales though, which is wrong. I think that people should seriously be educated and stuff like that before they venture into anything. Kind of like a crash course pre-IM.

Interesting infographic. This is something to keep in mind whenever one plans to launch email marketing campaigns. I would like to add some more words that you should: credit, extra income and limited time offer. These words often trigger the spam alert of most people so try to choose your words wisely.
