Marketing tips to improve customer relationships and ROI

This is also from top rank, they seem to have a few great pearls of wisdom. Have a read through and tell me what you think.

As marketers and sales professionals there is no doubt that we are focused on obtaining new customers and increasing awareness within targeted market segments. However, we must also consider the lifetime value of our existing customers and how marketing communications can contribute to that relationship.

I would consider to develop long term relationship with my recent customers by providing them valuable services and products and wherever possible, giving them free deals. However it does not mean that I do not care new relationships. Definitely, i will look forward to build fresh relationships with new customers. I am almost agree with the statement

In general metrics and statistics are important for the survival of any business. Your customer stats are one of the most important ones. A successful business will find new strategies to increase the customer value. This important to know if you're investing in paid traffic or otherwise. Because of your stats you have a pretty good idea of how many customers you will acquire in a certain period of time, so you know exactly if your investment will be worth it. Your ROI is secured if you keep acquiring customers at a similar rate as the previous period.

Long term customers certainly have more value than new, and possibly one-time customers. Long term customers keep businesses alive and going even if you fail to attract any new customers into buying.

I worked in Retail for many years, in a food chain, liquor store chains, and even a glass store chain. Even though those industries were different, I still used the exact same techniques. They always teach you that the customer is always right, but its not always true. If you have formed a relationship with your clients, you treat them as you would your friends, and they can see that you respect them, its easier to show them when they have made a mistake, and correct the situation. That is another perk of having returning customers IMHO. Because of that relationship you worked at to form and maintain, that exact same customer would recommend you and your service to anyone that needs it. "Go talk to my guy at.." is the one sentence every marketer should strive for.

That's exactly what an "expert status" or "authority status" would allow you to do. Clients don't follow you for nothing. They want to be told what they're doing wrong or can do batter and how. That's the whole point of relationship building with prospects and customers. Once you've built up such a status in your market you'll see sales go up, others will recommend you and you'll get noticed.

Re: Marketing tips to improve customer relationships and ROI

True, but there is a huge difference between showing a customer the "right way" and trying to force your own opinion on them, especially for the sake of making money. People are all different, and need to be approached differently. That (I think) is important as well. You use the same technique, but you just implement it differently from customer to customer. At the end of the day, if they see that you are there to help them, no matter what, and are willing to do that little bit extra to make sure they are happy, you have just made an important conversion from client to regular customer. I think, in a way, it can be hard to do, because of the difference in personalities, but its not impossible. Using what you know, with what you need to sell, with a small adjustment made for the client's personality, and you can open a lot of doors. (bit of a ramble... )
